Having left Lancing College in 1957, Reg began a pupilage with Fuller, Smith and Turner and was sent to study brewing at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh. After graduating he joined Fuller’s as a junior brewer in 1959. He spent an incredible 40 years with them, becoming Head Brewer and then in 1980, Director of Brewing. He remained in this role until 1999, when he retired. Not content to sit back and relax however, Reg then became one of the original assessors for Cask Marque, visiting pubs all over London and Berkshire, monitoring the quality of real ale.
